Mary Ann Mungcal leads 2017 Miss Global Philippines Court of Beauties

TAMPA, Florida – Mary Ann Mungcal of Arayat, Pampanga was crowned Miss Global Philippines 2017 on Saturday, June 24, at Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila. She received the crown from last year’s winner Camille Hirro, who placed 1st runner-up in the international Miss Global 2016 pageant.
Mungcal bested 21 other candidates who vied for the crown. She also received other special awards, including Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown.
Mungcal is no new to beauty pageants. She previously joined local pageants in the Philippines and was hailed as Miss Silka Pampanga 2016, Miss Silka Philippines 2016, second runner-up and a semi-finalist of Mutya ning Kapampangan 2012.
Rowee Sasuluya placed first runner-up, while Jacqueline Mayoralgo was second runner-up. Ma. Mhaelen Mae Patano and Fina Gulapa were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
Completing the Top 11 semifinalists were Chantal Serafica, Marvelyn Bocol Talha, Sharmaine Rose Magdasoc, Charmaine Aller, Diane Santiago and Cheska Frias Nueva.
Joana Marie Verdeflor was voted Miss Friendship while Ma. Mhaelen Mae Patano was awarded Best in Talent. Miss Photogenic award went to Diane Santiago while Maria Josephine Araullo won Best in Cultural Wear.
Actor Derrick Monasterio and TV host Luanne Dy served as the show’s masters of ceremonies.
The Miss Global Philippines, according to its CEO Pauline Sofia Laping, searches for deserving Filipino women who will serve as a tourism ambassador promoting Philippine heritage and its world-class destinations in the Philippines and abroad.
Mungcal will represent the Philippines in the international Miss Global 2017 pageant later this year.
