Miss World Philippines 2017 Court of Winners Declared

MANILA, Philippines – Laura Lehmann was crowned as Miss World Philippines 2017, becoming the first beauty queen to wear the “Pearl of the Orient” crown. The coronation was held on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines.
Lehman, a former University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) courtside reporter during seasons 77 and 78 of the league. She is currently in a relationship with basketball player and fellow Atenean, Von Pessumal, who now plays for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and was part of Gilas Pilipinas, who recently bagged the Gold Medal in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) held in Malaysia. She was crowned by outgoing Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Grey and by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle. She will represent the Philippines at the Miss World competition to be held in Sanya, China on November 18.
During the Q&A portion, Lehmann was asked what she would say to non-believers of beauty pageants, Lehmann answered” “To anyone who doesn’t believe in pageants, I would ask them to take a look at the girls tonight because we have lawyers, architects, women of substance who are here not only because of what they look like, but because of what’s in their hearts, what’s in their mind, and because what they’ve brought forth beauty with a purpose. They’re helping represent the Philippines and become the best version of the Filipina and for me that’s something only to celebrate“.
Along with Lehman, three other winners were declared during the pageant’s live event and they were as follows:
Teresita Ssen “Wynwyn” Marquez won the title of Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017. She will represent the country in the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 pageant in Bolivia. She is the first-ever Filipina and the only Asian to compete in the Latin American-based pageant.
Gorgeous and head-turner Cebuana beauty Cynthia Thomalla took home the title of Miss Eco International Philippines 2017. She will wear the Philippines sash in the upcoming Miss Eco International pageant by April next year in Egypt.
Sophia Senoron was crowned as Miss Multinational Philippines 2017 and she will represent the country in New Delhi, India for the Miss Multinational pageant. Glyssa Perez and Zara Carbonell were 1st and 2nd Princesses, respectively.
