President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was the special guest recently in the 3-day general assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) held at the Manila Hotel with the event’s slogan “Pederalismo, ngayon na!
Presently, the Republic of the Philippines is under the “Presidential Republic” form of government of which the President function as both the head of state and the head of the government of the country within a pluriform multi-party system.
LMP general assembly’s topic addresses the issue on how environment and climate change can be resolve as well as the issue on Local Government Unit (LGU) classification, Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) and other matters under the “federalism” form of government.
Municipal leaders and LGU leaders from the different regions participated in the annual LMP general assembly that focused on “Federalism” the proposed new form of Philippine government.
Likewise, the assembly covers Department of Education and LGU partnership in education framework.
Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Manalang Angara was the guest speaker in the LMP general assembly where his speech stresses on the importance of federalism in our community and how it will change our current social dilemma. He gave weight on social responsibilities of each leader in our local political organization.
The local leaders of each town mingled with PDU30 and threw their ardent desire for change in their respective communities. They had photo-op with him.
Senate President Aquilino Martin “Koko” De La Llana Pimentel III, senators Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito, Sherwin Gatchalian, Nancy Binay and Juan Miguel Zubiri graced the LMP general assembly. Present also were Francis Tolentino, former MMDA chairman and currently political adviser to PRRMD; and Rexner F. Rubio, president/founder/CEO of Turismo Filipina International Charities, Inc. (TFICI).
